GIVE YOUR WAIVER AN EXTRA CHANCE.
TAKE THIS EXTRA STEP
As you will remember that, when filling out Form I-192 of your waiver application, you were asked, at question 11, to explain why you wanted to go to the United States. You already gave them an idea of the purpose of your visits. If you feel satisfied that you covered the subject then don't bother with a further statement. But, if you are a prudent person, and have indicated on the form that you are including a "Statement of Purpose", this will give you an added opportunity to plead your case.
GIVE AS MANY LEGITIMATE REASONS AS YOU CAN.
If you have business or work related reasons that require you to go to the US, give a complete explanation. Are you planning to invest in the States? Will you attend seminars, conferences, trade shows, meetings, make deliveries or otherwise meet clients or customers?
Mention family and friends that you wish to visit. Are any of them too old or too sick to visit you in Canada? Here is a great opportunity to describe that your inadmissibility has punished your family because the children need and deserve to be able to maintain contact with grandma or uncle Ernie.
Give any cultural reasons such as your membership in ethnic organizations or communities. List any social clubs that you belong to and that have meetings and activities that you would be attending.
You might be a snowbird and want to spend your winters in Florida...
You might like the beaches...
Cheaper gas prices...
Any other reason that apply to your situation.
MAKE IT PERSONAL.
Pretend that you are face to face with the officer in charge of your waiver and he has asked you to convince him that you have legitimate reasons for wanting a waiver and going to the United States.
You know better than anyone else why you need or want this waiver. Don't let anyone else plead your case. If it comes directly from you, it will be more sincere, more compelling and therefore, more convincing.
TAKE WHATEVER TIME YOU NEED
YOU WON'T REGRET IT!!!
Everything else that you have done so far has been HISTORY, this is your first chance to get PERSONAL.
This extra step is what will differentiate your application from the hundreds of other applications that are all seeking approval. You have a chance to create a rapport with the adjudicator and to be seen as an individual with a life and a family. Don't be lazy and blow it.
